Water Filter Cartridges

Water as anyone can tell you, is the essence of life. Our lives revolve around having sufficient water for drinking and other uses. Actually our health hinges on having clean, bacteria and contaminant free water. Even though the municipal services do provide processed and cleaned water to our homes, all the pollutants are not removed. These pollutants can be in the form of arsenic, chlorine, fluoride, lead and nitrates. There is also some degree of sedimentation and sometimes turbidity. Water filter cartridges efficiently and effectively remove all these pollutants and give you sparkling clean water.

Carbon water filters are the most popular water filter cartridges because they are easy to install and they have an average life of about 6 to 9 months, depending on the amount of usage. The carbon water filter cartridges will filter outmost of the deadly contaminants such as cryptosporidium and Giardia, depending on the micron level. Anything one micron and below will inhibit cryptosporidium and Giardia as the cysts are larger than this size. Viruses cannot be filtered out if the micron rating is more than 0.01 microns. These water filter cartridges whether carbon based or otherwise, improves the taste of the water used for making coffee, tea and juices. It reduces the bad taste, foul odor and fine sediment present in piped water. The levels of lead, mercury, chlorine and chemicals such as trihalomethanes, pesticides are significantly reduced. These cartridges are connected to an electronic monitor which alerts the user when the water filter cartridge is to be replaced.

Some of the different types of cartridges available are pleated cartridges which are used for drinking water, cellulose resin impregnated filters with PVC end caps and specialized carbon cartridges with carbon soaked paper with netting outside for removal of free chlorine, removal of foul tastes, odors, colors and sediment removal.
