Water Filter System

Water is the purest, most needed essential for the survival of mankind. Water follows a clearly defined cycle of evaporation and condensation and clean drinking water is a precious commodity. Every country today follows a system whereby its citizens get clean and pure water for all their needs. Almost every community follows some system of filtration to get fresh drinking water. This is where the essential nature of a water filter system comes into play.

Nowadays natural water is hard to find because of all the industrial pollution which contaminates the water and makes it unfit for drinking. Most communities have a need for centralized water storage where it is processed further to make it potable.Inspite of the treatment, the municipal water is still not completely clean when it reaches you. Although restorative technology has taken huge leaps some method of water filtration is required at home. The choice of water filter system is entirely your choice.

The most used systems are Carbon blocks, ATS Ion Exchange, Chlorgon, Doulton Ceramic, KDF, Reverse Osmosis and ultra filtration. These systems take away the common pollutants like arsenic, chlorine, fluoride, lead and nitrates. Besides these, there are charcoal water filters, water distillers, ceramic water filters, Ultra violet and magnetic water filters, infrared water cleansers and catalytic water filters. Some water filter systems use ionization as well. The other alternative is either bottled water or home made filters.

Most people (95%) prefer to use a carbon water filter system, because they are easy to install and maintain. It covers all the basic functions necessary. The charcoal used in this water filter system is the carbon derived from coconut husks. It absorbs impurities as the water flows through it. This type of filter is simple to install and relatively economical as it has an usage life of 6 to 9 months depending upon the quantum of usage. Depending on the micron level chosen, the carbon filter eliminates most deadly contaminants like Cryptosporidium and Guardia.

Some charcoal filters are enhanced by activated nano-silver which provides a kind of extra anti-bacterial shield, because it kills around 650 known types of organisms. The essential minerals required for health, which are derived from water, can still permeate through a charcoal filter. In case sediment is a problem, a second separate in-line sediment pre-filter can be added to the system; otherwise the charcoal gets clogged and is no longer completely effective. It also reduces the life span of the carbon block.

In charcoal filters there are three basic models. The first is the carbon block, the second the activated silver impregnated charcoal also called Chlorgon and a micron rating. Anything with 1 micron rating and below prevents Cryptosporidium and Guardia from passing through as the cysts are larger than this size. Viruses of course cannot be inhibited by a water filter system with a micron rating of more than 0.01 microns.

Good health is a precious commodity and we should safeguard ourselves by using water filters to reduce any waterborne pollutants.
